Tarot Trek

Ok, for those who know me, they are familiar with my love towards the Star Trek series. I’m old school fan, DS9 are the final episodes that I really love. But, never mind me,  it is a Star Trek season, new series of Star Trek Discovery are presented to the public, as well as Orville, which if you ask me, has more essence of a Trekkie spirit than actual Star Trek (Discovery) . I mean, what the fuck did they do with the Klingons, bring me Worf back! But you know what they say, never ask a Klingon on appearance.

Well, however, I was looking for the Star Trek Tarot deck, and there is none.. Except one personal, that is really cool but not for sale, because there is some thing with the copyright and Star Trek.. ( If I’m wrong and I hope I’m, please let me know so I can buy a Star Trek Deck ASAP! )- ofc, the condition is that the deck is good and has sense.

With this text I would like to represent each card of Major Arcana with one of the character of Star Trek series. It’s a pretty nerdy thing to do.. But I can’t help it 😀

This is how I see Majors in correlation with Star Trek :

I mean… The Fool, we can argue who could get that role, because the “Fool” are everybody a bit. Like, Quark is a great “Fool”, he is always up to something, doing his schemes and hoping for the best, he has that entrepreneurial spirit, and always ready for the action and transformation for the greater cause ( in his case Latinum :D), or we can put here even the great almighty capt. Kirk, I mean he is so courageous, has that spark of life, always on the quest, journey etc.. So, you get my point, everyone in Star Trek has that Fool archetype. So, the best way to represent this card is with the Starfleet itself!

Yes, they all boldly go where no one has gone before!

Starfleet has always been a multiracial organization, composed of species from various worlds. Even though Starfleet was an organization representing United Earth and later on the United Federation of Planets, it was not a requirement for Starfleet personnel to be Human, or later on, from a member species of the Federation. (

C’mon! Like that isn’t the real Uranus talk which is the Fool’s representative planet.

And to get things even more interesting! The Ascended Master who we are connecting with the card of Fool is Maha Chohan, and guess what, he is known as ‘The Lord of Civilization’, (remember the Zach Cochran the inventor of warp drive , who said-  primary purpose of Starfleet from its infancy was to “…seek out new life and new civilizations,” and “…go boldly where no man has gone before.”) The Lord Maha Chohan is associated with Universal love, patience, discipline, kindness and consideration, endurance, intelligence and improvisation- if all that doesn’t sound like Starfleet to you then, idk, I guess you are a Star Wars fan then, go on, read something else 😀 .

So, you see, the best way to describe The Fool, is for me, with the Starfleet itself. Remember what the Fool card stands for- Crossroads, journey, decisions, quest, a new chapter in life, changes, choices, ideals, hope, happiness, joy, curiosity, inquisitiveness, innocence, trust, openness.

And yeah, The Fool carries the number 0- alpha and omega, just like, if there is no Starfleet we would even have the Star Trek series, right 🙂

So, let’s move on to the Major Arcana The Magician. Well, Magician is someone who has focused will, great creativity, self-confidence, someone with a skill, someone you can rely on.  So, who could that be in Trekkie universe, well, I would definitely say Chief O’Brien.

When he was in TNG series there was not much of his magic shown, he was working mostly at the transporter table, but there was a time when he saved cptn. Jean Luc from Borg and some other adventures, but he really shines in his post on Deep Space Nine Station.

Miles Edward O’Brien was a 24th century Human Starfleet noncommissioned officer who, following his service during the Federation-Cardassian War, served as transporter chief on board the USS Enterprise-D for several years before being promoted to Chief of Operations aboard starbase Deep Space 9. After the Dominion War he accepted a teaching position at Starfleet Academy on Earth. (

I mean, guys, Chief replaced himself by future self when he died because of radiation. Some time lapse thing was going on, he had to save himself and the station where he served (DS9), he was jumping in time and always seen himself dead, when he figured out the time jumps were killing him, it was too late (and he still had to save the station). So he sent near-future-him back to take his place, saying goodbye as he was dying from radiation poisoning.  And this is just one trauma horror he has survived because of his strong Irish mind and huge skill and knowledge of his.  Like there was a time when poor Chief was abducted and replaced by a replicant with his memories, or that time when he was literally implanted with traumatic memories of 25 years in prison.. Read more about chief’s horrors here .

But he really finds his way out of every bad situation. He is famous for his over working habits and non stop activity. He can repair anything in no time. He is a God of work. Not to mention that Magician card is related to the planet of Mercury, Chief was born in September- all that work, intellect and skill – you can find a connection- The actor playing the O’Brien is the great Colm Meaney, born on 30th of May, so his Sun is in Gemini, so Mercury is here too..

The chief is stubborn, this is a quality of Aries which the card of Magician hold in itself. As the archetype of the masculine principle, the Magician represents someone who is able to achieve his goals through his creative abilities and his skills in using the tools available to him. Get it TOOLS, Chief and his tools, all the time all the way..

High Priestess

Ok, who has psychic abilities, balanced mind, serenity, wisdom, understanding… Of course counsellor Deanna Troi! With that beautiful Betazoid eyes she can calm anybody, she understands and her empath abilities are remarkable.  She is actually half human half Betazoid, her mother, Lwaxana Troi was a Betazoid Federation ambassador . She was one of the most colorful Federation diplomats. Deanna was on the other hand much calmer and reserved.

Deanna’s father, Ian Andrew Troi, starfleet officer, died in 2343, when Deanna was only seven years old. Even so, she remembered him fondly, and when she became pregnant by an alien energy being in 2365, she named the child after her father.

As a half-Betazoid, Troi was capable of extra-sensory empathy, but was incapable of reading aliens with brain structures dissimilar to Humans and other Betazoids, such as the Breen and the Ferengi. Like most Betazoids, Troi had telepathic abilities. Due to her half-Human heritage, however, the range of her telepathic abilities was limited compared to full-blooded Betazoids, and she could usually only read the thoughts of other Betazoids, most notably her mother. Troi’s empathic skills made her an important asset to the Enterprise-D and her abilities were often particularly useful when dealing with hostile races. Since she could usually determine, through use of her abilities, whether others were lying, she repeatedly proved herself invaluable in many suspenseful situations (

Well not to spoil too much, counsellor later commander Troi’s life was also very adventurous and full of interesting situations. With her character we can see how all that situations are reflecting in telepathic and empathic mind, very thought provoking and stimulating.  Also her private life is very interesting,  her somewhat arranged marriage, relationship with Riker, alien baby… everything have this calm note with profound thinking and observing. Just like the HP, she knows what she is doing and why, no one can’t argue with that.

There are many who says that Deanna Troi is absolutely unnecessary character on  the TNG.  That is not true, with all power as psychologist  on the ship, she gives that feminine force, mystery and magic to the show.  So our High Priestess is mos def Deanna Troi 🙂

And here a little something for all of you 🙂 a “Make It So” spread- enjoy!

Stay tune for more Tarot Trek interpretations, each week there will be three more 🙂

Till then, live long and prosper.
